Bhagya Lakshmi Thyagarajan is a  Bharatanatyam dancer who belives that Dance is a medium of expression which allows us to communicate thoughts. She pursues a career in classical dance but also creates contemporary work  as she thinks dance has its own way to express human emotions and should not be confined by any boundaries.

She started learning bharatanatyam under her father Guru Shri R V Thyagarajan, who shaped her interest towards this particular dance form and also was the reason for her joining the eminent school of dance Kalakshetra, where she did her graduation and learned under teachers like leela samson, C V Chandrashekharan, Sheejith Krishna and Haripadman. She’s also trained in carnatic music. She later on joined Guru Balagopalan to polish her abhinaya which makes her performances very communicative.

Bhagya Lakshmi who was also the recipient of Yuva Pratibha award by  Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad is also an all India second rank holder for her bachelors in bharatanatym, She was also awarded the Bharatanatyam scholarship  from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Govt. Of India.

She has also performed in countries like Bangkok, Singapore, France, Spain, India and the UK.

Bhagya Lakshmi has been living in the UK since 2010 where she performs and teaches for beginners, intermediate and advance level students. She has also been training students for arangetrams and has also  mentored advance level students for CAT( centre for advance training)

She also collaborates with various artists to create new work which are based on bharatanatyam but with a modern and contemporary outlook.
